Time Flies, But…

It’s July already!

January was just yesterday. Time flies.

In retrospect, I am reminded of how with our choices, we use or abuse this indispensable gift, time.

With the poem below, I describe my life at different times. Like day and night, I have experienced both parts of the poem repeatedly. But I am undaunted. My resolve is to live out the second part, consistently.

Tick, tock, tick, tock...
The hours slip by.
Day in day out, the sun rises & sets,
And the years seem to fly.
Time passes, we are not left unchanged.
Yet it's the same sun, in the same sky.
Moments come, full of promise,
Only to flit away, leaving one high and dry
Time flies,
Mumbles the fool, with a sigh.
Tick, tock, tick, tock...
The hours slip by.
Day in day out, the sun rises & sets,
And the wise learn to fly.
Sure time passes, and fortunes are changed.
Yet the limit lies beyond the sky.
Moments come, full of promise,
To leave in its wake fruits, that's anything but dry.
Time flies!
Exults the wise, with a sigh.

‘The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.’ Peak performance coach, Michael Altshuler couldn’t have been more right.

  1. Christ my model in life and death is much aware of that fact when he said:
” I must do the woks of him that sent me, while it is day; night
cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:6 kjv).
That to me is the summary of this contemplations. Powerful write-up!
